Orange County Hosts ‘Super Pet Adoption’ Event

dogThe Irvine Animal Care Center will host its third annual Orange County Super Adoption Event on Sunday, June 7 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. More than 40 pet rescue groups and shelters will bring more than 500 homeless dogs and cats, including lots of puppies and kittens.

Celebrity guest Snoopy from Knott’s Berry Farm will be the official greeter and will be handing out discount coupons to the theme park. There will also be discounted microchips, more than 30 vendors, a silent auction, as well as an “Ask the Vet” and “Ask the Trainer” booth where event attendees can get free expert advice on pet medical and behavioral issues.

The special celebrity guest trainer will be Vladae, “The Russian Dog Wizard,” who will give demonstrations on dog handling and his unique canine communication method that he calls “Doglish.” Vladae has appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman, CNN, and KTLA.

The silent auction will benefit the Irvine Animal Care Center and will have lots of great items, including a gift certificate for 24 Event Suite tickets to a L.A. Kings hockey game at the Staples Center, valued at $2,400.

Several community businesses and organizations are also supporting the event. Rally to Rescue, Purina’s rescue group support division, will be conducting training and Frisbee demonstrations, and PetSmart will be giving away lots of fun pet items, including overnight stays at the PetSmart pet hotels. Irvine Subaru will also be on hand, displaying several of their pet-friendly vehicles (Subaru Outback, Legacy and Forester) as part of their “Pets 2 Love Campaign.”

Last year, about 7,000 people attended and more than 300 homeless animals found new homes. This is a fun family event and admission is free.
